Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Reviewed by Agastya

Eragon is just a poor, fifteen-year-old farmboy. One day while he goes hunting, however, he finds a weird blue stone. Later, the stone starts cracking and hatches into a baby dragon, which he names Saphira. A few weeks later, the Ra’zac, a race who serve under Galbatorix, the evil king, kill his uncle. Eragon chases after them with his newly grown up dragon to get revenge for the death of his uncle.
One reason I loved Eragon was because of the adventure storyline. Eragon must travel across the land of Alagaësia to seek out help from the Varden, a group who wants to overthrow Galbatorix, to help him kill the Ra’zac. Along the way he learns magic and more details about the history of dragons.
Another reason this book is great is because of the fact that Christopher Paolini invented an entire language (referred to in the book as “the ancient language”) for the story. I found myself flipping to the glossary in the back of the book to find out what some of the phrases mean. Someone who creates an entire language just for their book series must be really committed to it.
I would rate this book a 10/10. It was an amazing book, and I really liked it. However, the book is very long. I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy and adventure novels. I would not recommend this book to people who do not like long books. If you read this book, I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
