Will is a boy who lives in a orphanage in a castle called Redmont. He always wanted to be picked as a student in battle school during the “choosing day,” a day when orphans are picked to have jobs throughout the castle, but he fears he won't be chosen because he is small and wiry. On the choosing day, he is not picked as a student in the battle school, but picked as a Ranger, a elite group of spies. At first he does not like the Rangers and their creepy ways, but eventually Will accepts their ways, and Halt and Will journey through numerous exciting adventures.
Ranger's Apprentice The Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan is a great book full of adventures and mysteries. One reason I liked this book is because once I started reading it, I just couldn’t put the book down. I couldn’t stop because this book is full of suspense and I just wanted to know what would happen next.
I also like the Ranger motto that Halt teaches Will: “An Ordinary archer practices until he gets it right. A Ranger practices until he gets it wrong.” I like this saying because It means that you should get what you are practicing right more times than you get it wrong. This saying teaches Will to be hardworking, humble Ranger.
The genre of Ruins of Gorlan is fantasy and adventure. I really enjoyed this book and I would rate this book a ten out of ten, for this book was very exciting and it always had me at the edge of my seat. Even though this book has a little bit of swearing, blood, and really sad tragedies, I would still recommend this awesome book to everybody, This book is part of a series and each of the other books are just as promising as this one.
